being is a community-led hair care brand with a line of moisture-rich shampoo, conditioner, treatments and styling products created to meet all hair types exactly where they are. being was born to finesse and de-stress what you have, rather than trying to make it something it’s not. whether you’re curly and coarse or fine and flat, we’re here to guide you through a custom routine to unlock your best hair yet.
being was created with trichologists, and under the expert guidance of our being advisory board. we consider our advisory board our spirit guides, made up of expert hairstylists, writers, content creators and advocates who bring their lived experiences (and often, frustrations) with haircare and the beauty industry to help us create a brand that works for your hair, not against it.
our range of targeted haircare formulas currently includes shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and hair masks for hair types 1-4, along with an all-rounder shampoo and conditioner suited to all hair types. discover our full range here and in-store and online with walmart
our formulas are targeted to specific hair types, meeting your hair exactly where it is when it comes to moisture levels, frizz, volume, shape and texture. hero ingredients (think coconut oil, shea butter, aloe, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil and oat extract) are selected based on your hair’s particular wants and needs. whether it’s a little extra moisture, volume or definition you’re chasing, our formulas are designed to give you more of what you like about your hair… and less of what you don’t.
though the world of haircare is growing, it still suffers from a literacy problem. people often don’t know what their hair needs, or when they do, they find that existing ranges are either one-dimensional, or messaging is alienating (usually focusing on what they need to ‘fix’ or change about their hair). in short, haircare needed to catch up to skincare: a category that has long made it intuitive and simple to build a custom routine that works for any skin type. hair is as equally nuanced as skin, but not nearly as easy to navigate—and being is here to change that. whether you’re curly and coarse or fine and flat, we’re here to guide you through a custom routine to unlock your best hair yet.
in the USA, you can find being exclusively @ Walmart, both instore and online. (we’re kinda hard to miss!)

apply to wet hair, lather and rinse well. follow with the conditioner of your choice, either from the same line, or customized to suit your hair’s needs.
after shampooing, apply conditioner to wet hair—focusing on lengths and ends—gently massage and rinse. pair with a shampoo from the same line, or customized to suit your hair’s needs.
after washing and out of the shower, add a small amount to damp hair, focusing on ends. do not rinse out. style as usual (and expect less frizzy, more glowy hair as a result)
1-2 times per week, apply hair mask to damp or dry hair from ends to roots and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing out.
type 1 hair is often super straight to the point of having no wave or bend to it. type 2 hair is wavy up to what some would consider a loose curl. type 3 hair is what you’d recognise as curly, though curl tightness and patterns differ a *lot*. the same goes for type 4, or coily hair, which covers loose to tight coil patterns. then, the letter (A, B or C) that goes with that type number is based on your hair’s thickness, A being thin and fine through to C which is thick and dense. it’s important to note that you can have more than one hair type, with different curl patterns (or lackthereof) and thicknesses growing from different areas of your scalp.
good question! we’re glad u asked. head over to our hair glossary page to find the hair type you most closely relate to. if you’re still stuck, try taking our hair quiz to help work out your hair’s types and needs when it comes to products and routine.
